This course is designed for learners who are looking at entry level or a supervisor’s role within a childcare centre and may also have the responsibility of supervising volunteers or other staff members. Completion of this course is a requirement to work in the childcare industry, however you do not need to have a Certificate III to start this course.

This Diploma is a total of 16 months in duration (split into 4 semesters of 4 months each) however it is possible to complete the course earlier if you so wish.

The course is available both online and in the classroom at our Brunswick campus. There will be a combination of theory, research projects and work based practical tasks and students are expected to work on their assignments at least three days per week. A minimum of two assignments per month is necessary to complete the course on time. As part of the course all students must carry out work placement at a long day care centre for a minimum of 350 hours.

Students are required to use Moodle, our online learning system to access learning resources, lessons, assignment lists and to submit their work. Students can purchase our textbooks to assist with resourcing information for their assignments. Assessments will be related to the work place and include practical work based exercises, short and long answer questions and written assignments. Students will also be observed at their work placement by KAL Training.

All students must have a laptop or desktop computer and access to the internet for the full duration of the course.
